I hardly get into playing the game before I run into the Judges/Architects and the Beta ends. I'd like a longer leash to play with please Very Happy

I agree. Will be great if there was no limitation in time/turns or whatever trigger the Judges/Architects encounter, and so, just no encounter or piece of the scenario. There are times I focus on something to check/reproduce, and I can't do it on time. Not really comfortable for a "test".

I know it's dangerous to release more because some player may consider it as already integral game. But restrain is not a good thing too since it can disgust from beta. When I got an idea on something, I'm continually restarting, and it's already giving me headaches. A lot of players won't continue restarting and reporting after several tries.
So in my opinion, here is more a prototype/demo than a beta to criticizes and argument on to improve it.

At the beginning, I thought "quick game" was that : a game mode without scenario/destiny, just exploration, a star to travel to, and so, only a high score focused game. But it seems it's the same as normal mode. Is it ?

Beta testing may be better this way, a "closed" (oh, already the case I think ^^), and reduced world. Reduced in term of width of course, but first of all, maybe in the sense of restricted (no advanced tech, or not all in the same time, not all events, etc). No limitations in term of time. Even if a player continue doing the same thing, going round and round and round ... but is not suddenly forced to stop , he is like a gold fish, he continues and thinks he is playing.

The idea of of imposed time or piece of a game is linked to the concept of demonstration products or impulse goods. These are made to end, you know it from the beginning. With betas, you don't know what you will encounter on the first start, but they must begin to offer something to fulfill, even if it's just a feeling (ex : score like goal). Doing things for doing something and only reporting personally drives me crazy and quickly makes me suffocate, think inefficiently, and then stop. Plus, the Architects encounter is almost a spoiler for a newbie like me, if I deliberately want to test and report, I don't need them. I already know there is some universal plot or something from the teaser and the aliens ... And after going to the end of the beta quite a lot of times, that THEY will suddenly cut my game, but, well, I don't know when.

[role playing mode=1] What the hell ?? ... Oh, crap ! I'm done, the Architects are here ! See ya in another life my dear and loved spaceship of mine ... *sigh ; then *aaarrrgggl ; sudden death, and the end.[/role playing mode]

Right now, I HATE Architects more than an asteroid event or not crossing the road of a garden planet for too much turns and running low on oxygen.
Right now, they are like the Bogeyman. But as soon as the complete game is released, I'll assemble the most useful ship possible, and they'll hide continuously from me, not to pop up suddenly and scare me but because they'll be scared of me, hahahaha.

Hi jendor_keylar, Esdeve.

you're right, the beta is very short compared to the size of the full game.
But we want to keep all the new gameplay mechanics for the full release.

Consider it's a training for your future death travel Wink

Ok
As said in "End of a beta game" subject, this may explain the nature of the beta Wink
Well, this solution popped up into my mind too, but didn't express. No fun.

Okay, I've figured out a way to circumvent the "end of beta" barrier. So I've got full functionality Razz The disc ship has 21 cargo slots and is my fav by far. Interferometer is the most crucial technology in the game, and Ansible is very handy toward the end.

Hum ...

I imagine it "may" not really be a serious issue since the beta "may" end shortly as said previously in the topic (well there is short and short ... since it's also announced elsewhere there will be others beta updates). I'd only say it "may" have been better, and smart, and wise, to write nothing in this forum but to the dev by MP, for the sake of not rushing others players to attempt finding the flaw.

This makes a lot of "may" but it "may" not only be my personal opinion ...
