I lost my probe!!!

I encountered a scenario in a solar system (can't recall what it was) but the choice I made erased my ship's computer and so my computer "forgot" the probe technology.

I don't know how to replenish my fuel and I'm down to 12. Anyone know how to get the probe back? It doesn't even show up in my inventory of items I can build.

If you do not have any more fuel, than it's pretty much game over. You might try to jump to the next system and hope you get a last chance random event.
Once you lose the blueprint for the probe, you can only hope you get it again from somewhere(alien gift, random event).

Yeah, thanks. I tried to make it to the nearest planet but ran out of fuel. On to the next chapter.

Switching ships can sometimes save you.

It is difficult to recover from losing the probe tech- as probing to 10km becomes unavailable. I suppose going to a conservative strategy is required then trying to encounter aliens or find Rocky worlds with tech. If you have geo scan it might be possible to rediscover it faster

Do you definitely get more resources probing 10km than just probing several times at a lower depth?

For fuel you get everything there by probing at 10km- that's one fell swoop for everything. I think it's optimal when you can rebuild the probe
