Google Play Games integration broken on Humble copy

Hi, I got Out There from the humble applet on the game page, and the Google Play Games integration has never worked for me.

When I tap it, it says "Connecting to...", and then the Play Games logo, then that popup disappears and I get the spinning circle animation back on the title screen, then it goes away and nothing happens.

Is this feature supported in my version? Or is this only for people who buy directly from the Google Play app store?

Also, love the game! Played it on my phone for 2 weeks straight after I got it.
Had a full computer, right there, but instead I just sat on my couch every night after work and obsessively tapped out my own space adventure!

Same. Tried the instructions in this thread: https://outthere.forumactif.org/t213-achievements-and-leaderboard-for-humble-version a couple of times, but unfortunately didn't do anything.

Same problem here, after checking Android logs I can see that the application (Out Here) asked for linking with my Google Account but it wasn't possible because "Game XXXXX isn't autorised for this user " (probably because the game wasn't bought from Google Play Store)...
