How do you interact with space stations?

I'm a bit confused about the space stations. I would expect them to work like in the tutorial where I tab the cube and get a technology or something. But nothing happens when I do.
Please tell me if I am missing something obvious or my game is bugged.

The space stations give you fuel, oxygen or repairs your hull when you tap the cube. With each space station it varies what it gives you. Which ever of those three elements it fills, it fills it up completely.

If nothing happens when you tap the cube, then you have the corresponding resource at 100.

Usually that means it's a hull replenisher as very rarely you get to a supply station with full fuel or oxygen.
